This is the eighth Christmas devotion of twenty-five Christmas countdown on-the-go, active, object lesson devotions with Bible verses to help us keep our focus on the true reason for the season!  Each day snap a photo of each item for a visual and use as a photo challenge on Social Media, or with your family, small group, friends or just for yourself.  It’s a fun way to enjoy the presence of Christ each and every day as we look towards celebrating His birthday!

Dec. 8th - Favorite Scripture - Psalm 119:11

"Your word I have treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You."

My Christmas devotion photo above is of my favorite Bible verse - Psalm 27:8.  God brought this verse to my attention the summer I came to know Jesus at the age of eighteen.  It has since been what I consider my "life" verse.  He has caused my heart to seek Him daily.

Our Scripture for today is Psalm 119:11.  Are we treasuring His Word?  You may have been asked before - if your house was on fire, what "things" would you try to save?  What are your treasures?

What's God's greatest treasure?  God knew from the beginning this world would fall to sin and its destruction; in fact, the Bible says one day this earth will all be burned up.

2 Peter 3:10 - "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up."

And what did God decide was of such great value to Him that He decided He would rescue? ...YOU and me and all who will receive His gift of salvation (rescue).  You are of that much value to God!

"For we are His workmanship (masterpiece), created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."  Ephesians 2:10

I don't know where you are right now in life.  This Christmas may be a very difficult season for you.  You may feel lonely and forgotten...valued by no one.

But I am here to tell you God says you ARE valued...by the Creator of the universe Himself!!!!  Christmas is all about God coming to earth so that we could go home to Heaven with Him through His Son Jesus Christ - Immanuel - "God with us"!

He is here.  He is near.  And to Him, you are dear!

Live it out:

Bring this Christmas devotion to life today by doing two things:

  1.   Treasure His Word:  Open your Bible, find a favorite verse if you don't have one, and "hide it in your heart".  Put it to memory.  No fire nor flood nor any other disaster can steal it away from you.  Treasure His Word daily as you seek His face.  Try these memory verse tools if you need help.
  2.   Treasure people:  Think about the things you treasure.  Look at the world around you and mentally place "green" tags on anything that you can take into eternity with you.  Mentally place "red" tags on anything that you can't.  You'll quickly realize that people are really the only thing we can make a difference where they spend eternity by sharing Jesus with them!  This Christmas share "...Christ in you, the hope of glory!" (Colossians 1:27)

Special note: We do preview the websites to which we link, but are unable to peruse them completely. We try to check others' faith statements and make sure they do profess Jesus Christ as God's Son and salvation is found only in Him. It must, however, be your responsibility to personally dig into God's Word and allow the Holy Spirit to be your first and final teacher on all subjects.
