Book Discussions

Have kids think of at least three unique things about themselves.  They may have a freckle on their nose or be able to jump high in the air.  They may like pickles but not like ice cream.  With older kids, see if they can remember some of the unique qualities the others mentioned about themselves.

BIble Lesson

God has created each of us to be unique and special. We shouldn't look down on anyone including ourselves because we are different in some way. God designed us to be more than just a part of the crowd; He has a special plan for our life! Jeremiah 29:11 in the Bible says so!

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Scripture basis: Hebrews 11:23 tells us: "By faith Moses' parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king's edict."

Use the story of Moses to show that although he grew up in Pharaoh's house, he chose to live differently and honor God with his life. Because of this, He was able to lead God's people out of Egypt, and they were saved.

God has created each of us to be different too. We all look different, we act different, we even think differently. Because we are all different, God is able to use us in unique ways to spread His love to others.

The Bible tells us to be "a peculiar people" in 1 Peter 2:9:

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light"
